New Spring Fest!

Spring Fest is produced by Anacortes Arts Festival as a second, smaller arts and crafts festival in Anacortes. April 22 and 23, from 10:00am – 4:00pm each day. Join us at the Depot Arts Center (611 R Avenue) for booth artists, music, food & beer garden, youth activities and working artist demonstrations.

Shopping for a Cause

While our events draw people together to celebrate community, art and culture – at their heart is the Festival’s year-round commitment to funding and supporting art and art education. In 2017 we are giving back over $65,000! This money enriches kids through education, funds public art projects and supports worthwhile programs of other art organizations. By coming and enjoying our events, you are helping us make sure that the arts are alive and well in our community…

Booth Artisans

Shoppers can expect to find jewelry, wearables, ceramics, glass, and 2D work by some of our most successful and popular vendors.

Food & Drink

You won’t go hungry or thirsty over Spring Fest weekend!  When you need a break from visiting the booth artists, you will find perfect choices for lunch or a snack. Fish tacos, woodfired pizza, homemade soups, gourmet sandwiches, desserts, the always-necessary kettle korn and more will be on your menu.

Visit the Beer Garden to enjoy Northwest craft beers and wine varieties from our friends at Canoe Ridge and Waterbrook.  On Sunday afternoon, we will feature a Rose Tasting from 2:00pm – 4:00pm  Everyone seems to be drinking Rose these days, come sample a few and learn how to pick your favorites.

Fun, Families & Kids

Do the Bloom Color Run
Kick off Spring Fest weekend by joining our colorful 5k Do the Bloom Color Run. This is a non-timed fun run that is all about the experience of getting colored. At stations throughout the course, runners will be liberally doused with colorful powder – looking like running rainbows when they cross the finish line. This is a fun event for groups of friends, kids – even friendly dogs. We provide a shorter run for those under 12 – plus a t-shirt for everyone.  Registration is $30 for adults, $10 for youth under 12.  Come for the run, then stay and enjoy Spring Fest. You can register at Active.com or day of the race.Youth Activities
A group of youth professionals have put their heads together to create a fun space for kids. A visit to the photo booth to participate in a collaborative photography project is definitely in order. To take away, kids can create colorful beaded bracelets and plant a giant pumpkin seed that they can transplant at home to watch grow.  And, they can get a little messy with some painting and chalk areas.
Fine Art Show
Be sure to visit the Fine Art Show inside the Depot during Spring Fest. The Spring Fest Fine Art Exhibition includes juried work from 33 regional artists. This show consists of a gallery of fine art with painting, photography, sculpture, collage and mixed media work from Anacortes, Seattle, Skagit, Island and Whatcom Counties – nearly 100 pieces in all. This year’s show was selected with new collectors in mind and includes some smaller and more affordable work. The show opens on Friday, April 14 at 6pm. The Opening is a free event and includes refreshments, a no-host bar, and an opportunity to meet many of the artists.
Interspersed with the art, will be mannequins dressed by downtown merchants. See what creative wearable things our local businesses are selling – and then go and visit the participating retailers for special deals. Retailers this year include: Tides of Anacortes, Island Style, Scott Milo Gallery, Classic Style & Company\Fidalgo Artisan Yarn Co, Donatello, Re-Feather Your Nest, Lil’Tugs Children’s Boutique,  Red Snapper and Alley Cat Antiques/Marine Hardware.

Working Artists
For those who like to see art in action, we are pleased to feature Skagit mural artist Gustavo Vargas. Gustavo is a young artist known for his large colorful, Latino paintings. There will also be a few individuals from Washington Plein Air Painters. Watch their visions come to life.
