The Opening of this years Arts at the Port is Saturday, July 30th, at 6pm at the Port Transit Shed (north end of Commercial Avenue on the waterfront). This free community celebration includes no-host wine, nibbles, music and an opportunity to meet the artists. Please join us!
45 artists selected by our Juror Barbara Shaiman make up the Juried Exhibition. It includes nearly 100 pieces of both 2D & 3D work by regional and national artists. The Allen Family Focus Gallery, relating to the theme “Levity” includes larger bodies of work from Anne Schreivogl and Sue Roberts from Anacortes, and Graham Schodda from Bellingham. Rounding out Arts at the Port is a K-12 Youth Art Show. It includes individual artwork from Anacortes students and work created through the Museum of Northwest Art MoNA Link education classes.
Fine art awards will be announced at the Opening event. Awards total over $10,000 and include Best of Show, two Excellence Awards, a T-Bailey Corporate Award and Peoples Choice (presented at the end of the Festival) – plus two Memorial Awards. The Festival also purchases work from the exhibition for it’s Anacortes Collects Program, which places artwork in public locations. This year’s Purchase Award will go to the Anacortes School District, to be placed at the Anacortes Middle School.
