April events expand to include Spring Fest

Moving into its 4th year, Spring Fest expands the Festival’s reach into the off-season. 2017 dates are April 14-22. Originally started as an opportunity to bring an art focus to Anacortes during the busy Tulip Festival season, Spring Fest has evolved into a series of fun, family friendly events. Included in the lineup are a Fine Art Exhibition geared toward emerging collectors, an Evening Event to benefit arts education for school children, Do the Bloom Color Run (supporting public art) and NEW Spring Fest with booth artisans, entertainment, food and more. Stay tuned…

Graham Schodda chosen as Patrons Choice

Sculptor Graham Schodda was selected as the Patron’s Choice during the Art in Bloom Exhibition. This is not the first time that the audience has given Graham their nod of approval.    He has been selected twice as the Peoples Choice winner during the August Festival. This year Art in Bloom had visitors from throughout Washington,  as well as 12 other states – and several foreign visitors. If you enjoyed Graham’s work be sure to see more of his sculptures (made entirely from recycled pieces) during the Festival Fine Art Show at the Port!

Fine Art Show continues through April 23

It’s been a great run so far for the Art in Bloom Fine Art Exhibition, which opened last Friday evening.  So far we’ve had visitors from 59 Washington cities and 11 states.  The show will be open every day through April 23, from 11 – 4.   The setting is the historical Depot Art Center at 611 R Ave in Anacortes. With 30 artists, it has a lot of different styles and points of view.   Come select your favorite artist. The artist with the most votes at the end of the exhibition will receive a $500 Patron’s Choice Award sponsored by the Allen Family. Through art proceeds from this show (and other Art in Bloom events) we are funding the Cultural Arts Program in the Anacortes School District.
